The episode ends with  the pres  ident finally dec iding to or der Shareef's assassination (a legally  questionabl e act) and  C.J.';s a gent' ;s murder, just after t  he man threatening C.J. was caught. 　　From a cr itical persp ective, ser ies creato r Aaron Sor kin acknowledged i n October 2002 that th e terrorism-rel ated plots  designed to keep the  series relevant after the real-life 9/11 attacks were awkward at times, saying "fr  om week to week, you felt like you were writ  ing the show handcuf fed, a little bit.
