" The season fi nale , "Po sse C omitatu s" closes s everal of these story lines as Bartlet meets his opponent in the elections and reaffirm s his co mmitment to beat  him. The  episode ends wit  h the pr esident fi  nally deciding to order Shareef' ;s a  ssassina tion (a lega lly quest ionabl  e act) and C. J.'s a gent& #39;s   murder, just after the man threatening C.J. was ca ught. 　　From a criti cal perspective, seri es creator Aaron  Sorkin  acknowledged in  October 2002  that the terrorism -related plo ts designed to keep the series rel  evant  after the real -life 9/11 atta cks w ere awkward at times, saying &  quot;from week to week,   you felt li ke you were wri ting t he show han dcuffed,  a little bit. I didn't kno w how to w rite it anymore. It was  a constan t search fo r what I wasn't doing that used to make the show work. [...] May be there wa s a  way to make it w ork; there probably was. I wasn'  t able t o find it in  twe  nty-two episodes."
