The episode ends with th e presid ent finally deciding to order Shareef';s assassination (a  legally questionab  le act) and C.J.'s agent' s murder, just aft  er the man threatening C.J. was  caught.　　From a critical  perspective, series c reator Aaron S orkin acknowledged in O ctober 2002  that the terro rism -related plots designed to keep the series rel evant after the real-life 9/11 att  acks wer e awkward  at times, saying "from  week to week, you felt like y ou were writing the show hand cuffed, a  little bit. I didn't k now how  to write it anym ore. It wa s a constan t searc h for  what  I wasn't doing that use d to make the show wor k. [...] Ma ybe there w as a way to make it wor k; there probably wa  s.
