Oth er prominent plotline s include C ongressional investigations in to whether Bartlet committed elector al fr  aud by concealing  his MS,  a de ath t hreat agai nst C.J. an d the ensuing rel ations hip sh e develops with a Secret Service a gent assign  ed to h  er, the  Qumari defense m inister Ab dul Shareef  plotti ng terr orist attac  ks a gainst the US, a nd a troubling m eetin g betwee n Toby and  the  President that leaves Bartl   et with a  bout of  insomnia in  "N  ight Five." The seas on finale, &q uot;Posse Comita tus" closes  several of these  storylin es as Bartlet meets his opponen t in the elec tions and r eaffirms his  commitment  to beat  him. The episode  end s with  the president finally deciding to  order Shareef' s assassi nation  (a legally  questionable act) and C.J.9;s agent's m urder, just after the   man threatening C. J. was caught.　　Fro m a critica l perspective, series  creator Aaron Sork in acknow ledged  in October 2002 that the t erroris m-related p lots desi   gned t o keep the series re levant after the real-life 9/11 attacks were awkward at times, saying  "  from week to week, you felt like you w ere writi ng the show handcuffe d, a lit tle bit. I d idn't kn ow how to write it  anymore.  It was a consta  nt search fo r what I  wasn' ;t d oing that us ed to make the show work. [.. .] Maybe th ere w as a way  to make it work;  ther e probably  was.
