As op posed to the seri es, th e docu mentary  presents the Czech and Slovak cin  ema of the 60's in the national, inter  national and al so inter-gene rational cont ext. It de scribes the ways the New Wave crossed the exis ting artistic b oundaries,  how it v  ariegated the world cinema and wh  ere it left an ineffa ceable impression. It analyses the work of filmmakers in  a state-fu nded cinema, un der the pressure  of id eolo gica  l demands on one hand and commerce on t he other. It  presents  the dilemma of  a man  - an artist - on the edge between contradictor y social systems and incon  gruo us aesthet ic requirem ents.
