He bef riends and tak es in Mac Da vies (Donald Pleasence), an ol  d de  relic t who has bee n fired from a menia l job in a café . In time Aston offers him a job as caretaker of  the house. Aston&  #39;s brother, Mick (Alan Bates) -  a taunting, quasi-sadist - harasses  the derelict w  hen his brother is away, counterma nding h is orders.
