《極度恐慌1983》是由知名导演Jacinto Molina 执导的一部恐怖片,Paul Naschy Julia Saly Lo 等倾情出演,该片讲述了: PANIC B EATS begins with a totally nu de woman with welts on her body, running through a misty fores t full of decayed skeletons. A kn ight o n horseback is chasing her, and w e soon learn that he i s Alaric de Marn ac (a wicked character Naschy f irst created f or HORRO R RISES FROM THE TOMB), viciously k illing her for h er unfaithful ways. After the cre dits r ole, we are taken to the present where a descendent of Marnac named Paul (Naschy) is married to the wealthy Geneviè ve (J ulia Saly) w as has some serious hea rt problems. Paul de cides to take her to his ancestral home in the country for some peace and quiet, but the superstitiou s-filled settin g opens a P andora’s Box of terr ible occurre nces. We soon disc over th at Paul is a real son-of- a-bitch w ho plans to scare his wife to death, planning to co ntrol her fortune and continue his secret affair with se ductive bad girl Mireille ( Silvia Mir ó), who happens to be the niece of the tarot card- readin g housekeeper, Mabile (Lola G aos). Paul’ s male volent scheme w orks, but he still has to worry about an add itional money- hungry mistress (this g uy really gets around!), the unfo rgiv ing Mabile, as well as new fianceé M ireille who might be hid ing a thing or two herself . More g risly murders follow , and the ghost of Marnac returns from h ell to punish the most despicable hu man character in the film. PANIC BE ATS was al so written by Naschy (under his re al name Jacinto Molina) who inj ects the film with an old-fa shioned spooky house m otif, be efed up with a modern movie sense of v iolence and sexuality. The film offers nothing too innovative storywi se, and ev en Naschy ad mits on the disc’s extras that it was partly inspired by GASLI GHT and REBE CCA, but he seems to just toss in a hodgepodge of exploitation and horror i ngredients, while d elivering a stylish and enj oyable effort with a number of twists and some genuin ely chil ling moments. The ca mera shots and lightin g are both effec tive, and there& #39;s even does a cool set-up (much like what Fred die Francis did in THE SKULL and THE CREEPING FL ESH) where we see the point of view of Marnac through his dark helmet a s he stalks his female prey. G raphically, we are exp osed to e verything fro m a plate of bloody eyeballs, to victi ms being beaten rele ntlessly with the various Medie val we apons affix ed on the house’s walls (for example, someo ne is axed in the stomach, followed by t he soaked entrails oozing out!). Naschy’s most freq uent 198 0s leading lad y, Julia Saly , is not giv en mu ch to do , but with her offb eat looks, is a nice presenc e nonet heles s. The prominent female star h ere is Silvia Miró who is seen in the bu ff frequ ently, and she certainly make s for some well-appreciate d Euro s tarlet eye candy . Nasch y himself is very good in the film, putti ng o n connivin g facade s, ca rrying a number of women on a strin g, being a real m alicious bastard, and for the umpt eenth tim e in his career, playing two roles in a one film. http://ww w.dvddrive-in.c om/reviews/n -s/p anicbeats8283.htm
