He hired Francis Coppola to write a scr ipt and fi nish the picture. After five weeks of sh ooting, Ro ger fired Francis, and hired me to finish the picture. Jack Hi ll was hired to write a new script wit h me. A lot of what Francis shot was thrown out, exce pt for the stuff with the witch from WIZARD OF O Z. (Dor othy Newman), and I f inished the picture in five days of sho oting. Al l of t he interiors are Roger's (with the exce ption of Francis's witch' ;s lair), and most of th e exteri ors are m ine.
